Fionnuala Fildes
Patient Advocate
Fionnuala has lived with chronic pain for 44 years. Since taking early retirement eight years ago, she has become an active patient participant in research, working as a PPI (Public and Patient Involvement) collaborator with three Irish universities - helping design studies, interpret results, and communicate findings in plain language. She has partnered with physiotherapists up to PhD level, co-writing theses for publication, and recently joined a VR project exploring non-invasive equipment for pain relief. Fionnuala is also an Ambassador for Chronic Pain Ireland, driven by her belief that lived experience makes research stronger, more informative, and more useful.
Fionnuala joins Relevium’s Clinical Advisory Board, supporting the company as a patient advocate and bringing her lived experience directly into how Relevium designs and evaluates its research.
On a good day, Fionnuala enjoys walking, designing and making clothes and jewellery, and losing herself in all things crafting.
